Thursday Thirteen - Thirteen Reasons I Haven’t Been Blogging Lately

  1. No internet at home……I know, sacrilege
  2. I’ve had a horrific stomach virus for almost a week that’s kept me down and out
  3. I have developed lateral epicondylitis from too much research
  4. Okay, okay I got tennis elbow from surfin’ the web
  5. My neighbor and I went through the alcohol and chocolate in less than two days
  6. See number two
  7. I’ve been spring cleaning and have only ¼ of the house finished. As I’ve been in the house for over eighteen years there is a LOT of purging going on
  8. Catching up at work after being out for most of the week
  9. End of the school year parenting duties….and I really hate being nice to the hypocrites that swarm amongst themselves spouting what good Christians they are while shunning the new people. I have become a crusader. Call me Joan.
  10. Spring football. Thank you baby Jesus, A-men.
  11. I’ve been really tired lately and by the time I get home the urge to write has bound and gagged itself and to perilously dangle upside-down from my rooftop
  12. My neighbor’s sister gave me two Publix bags full of books; I haven’t finished the first bag yet
  13. The lateral epicondylitis is actually a bit painful and as I am a single mom that doesn’t get enough sympathy I’m milking this for all it’s worth

Thursday Thirteen - Thirteen Reasons To Love The Kilt

1. A kilt looks good on anyone.

2. They look even better on men.

3. Men with work boots and heavy socks bunched up.

4. I LIKE wearing mirrors on my shoes.

5. A kilt is probably the most masculine article of clothing a man could wear.

6. You don’t have to worry about tearing out the knees or the bum.

7. You can dress them up or go casual, we really don’t care.

8. They come in any color you could possibly conceive.

9. I quote Mel Gibson as William Wallace in Braveheart when I yell …"Freedom!"

10. Who doesn’t like their man going commando?

11. Going commando and everyone knowing it.

12. A kilt provides free air conditioning on those hot summer days.

13. Women LOVE a man in a kilt.

....crap, that makes fourteen, doesn't it?

Thursday Thirteen

Last week I was introduced to a blogging trend called “Thursday Thirteen”. Since I have been spending quite a bit of time complaining about the pollen that has sheathed our milieu in a thick cloak of sulfur-guised spores, I thought I should take a moment to share the joys of spring, as well. Here is my first installment of Thursday Thirteen:

Things I Love About Springtime

1. The overnight bursts of green from newly awakened buds.
2. Dogwood, Bradford Pear, and Redbud trees blooming throughout the neighborhood.
3. Lazy afternoons reading a book in the backyard.
4. Firing up the charcoal grill and cooking our dinner out back.
5. Afternoon walks with the kids.
6. Heading to the beach.
7. Cool mornings and warm afternoons.
8. Opening the windows and letting the breeze waft through the house.
9. Birds returning and filling the yard with chatter.
10. Clear, sunny days with not a cloud in the sky.
11. Pollen.
12. Putting away the heavy sweaters and bringing out those sundresses.
13. GOING BAREFOOT!

Next week, to make up for the warm weather and weekends spent out of doors, I will dedicate to those in the frozen north my next installment of Thursday Thirteen – “Things We Love To Hate About Florida”.
