Ode To The Poopster

Many of us are pet owners but what I’m about to say, most of you will disagree with. My dog is the BEST dog in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD. Yea, yea, yea, I know you think your dog is better than mine but – and I say this with all the love I can muster – your dog’s not even close.

When I picked "The Coop" out at the pound and brought him home, I had no idea what he was other than canine. He actually looked part Jack Russell and part Saint Bernard. What he turned out to be is nothing short of perfection.

Okay, those that have met him know he’s a couple steps shy of perfect but who wants a perfect dog anyway. Cooper is smart, funny, goofy, sloppy, dorky, and lovable. He snores, smacks his food, dribbles water all over the floor when he drinks….from the toilet….and only from the toilet…and he clinks his cookie jar if I’m not fast enough getting him fed. He weighs just under a hundred pounds but loves more than anything to spend an evening in your lap. He cuddles and snuggles and has no idea the couch is not meant for him. He stays out of the garbage but loves to lay in a pile of clean clothes….that’s he knocked to the floor….”accidentally”. He adores kids and friends but is leery of strangers. He barks really loud if he's never met you but always from behind my legs. If “mommy” isn’t there Coop is straight out the doggie-door and into the yard where it’s safe.

Yep, no other dog compares to The Super Duper Pooper Cooper; I wouldn’t change him one bit.

I can't argue. Mine gets in the trash and also eats my underwear.

I have the best pooch ever and I do mean that. Chrissie is a Cocker Spaniel that has brought so much joy into my life. Wouldn't change one thing about her. The only thing I would change is to make her a puppy again as she is in the twilight of her life.

Kel - "she" was just complaining to me this weekend about how she's neglected and she needs to see her boyfriend more often that one every 10 to 12 weeks. However, I see problems in that were I to actually write an "ode" I may have problems with finding a word to rhyme with "vagina".

mama - Coop is the coolest! One of the best dogs I've ever had and I have had many.

Tootsie - Better your panties than your pantyhose. Hose get twisted in the intestinal track and usually require surgery to have them removed. I say go commando to alleviate the problem. :0)

Tally - Welcome neighbor! I got Coop nine days after I had to put my Bassett Hound to sleep - I feel your pain.

He's adorable! I want a dog but my husband won't let me get one. Something about the three cats I already have, I don't know.

That is one cute dog.

We are a three cat family as well. We've been discussing dogs lately, though. Only thing is, it's so easy to leave cats home and on their own when you travel. Dogs are a whole 'nuther ball game.

Mrs R. – I failed to include all of our pets - one dog, two cats, six (maybe five) mice – one was AWOL last night at feeding time - a giant goldfish we won at the fair a number of years ago, and a tank of tropical fish. All of the pets are mine……now.

Ask me how many I had when I was a vet tech years ago; now THAT was scary!

Kath – My buddy and best friend across the street takes turns with me caring for each others pets when we go out of town. No cost and we BOTH get to keep our dogs from getting lonely when the family is gone. Find a good neighbor that you love and trust and remember to never plan your vacations at the same time.

Cooper is a beautiful, handsome dude! We too have an incredible pound puppy - Cody....he is loving, kind, funny, fearful, in that puppy way, of new things (eg vacuum cleaner which I hardly ever use so he never gets used to it..lol)He barks up a storm when people come to the door then licks them to death when they come inside! Offers them a beer, and if we were'nt home he'd probably oblige and show them my jewellary box! He's 20 months old and weighs about 75lbs or so...I love your blog..keep writing :)
